How have you been defined?

Journal Entry: Fri Nov 13, 2009, 9:40 PM
As I've had a lot of free time lately, I've come to contemplate a lot about my history, why I am who I am today, why I do the things I do (or have done) and I've concluded that it's because of others, whether that may be positive or negative is up to the hand of fate to decide. In light of this, I'd like to thank the contributors of my existence - though many of you may never read this, know that you have defined who I am.. This list shall be in order (from past -> present)

1.) Parents; Mum. You have been there for me, and taught me that no matter how harsh things may seem sometimes, it could always be worse.
Dad, you are the example of it being worse, you have shown that mortality has it's limits.

2.) Hannah(s), Laura, Nicholas - my leicestonian friends, you will have forgotten me no doubt, 12 years have passed since I last gazed upon you, but I have not forgotten you. You have taught me not to forget people, no matter how significant a part they play.

3.) Kyle, I'm sorry I stole your yo-yo, you were the first person I felt empathy for, for lying to.

4.) Paul H, 'JoJo', David, Clarissa and the fat guy whose name eludes me - you remind me that the bottom rung of the ladder is not where I want to be

5.) Mike B, it's been many years, and we were good friends though we never met, you have taught me that Einsteins quote about stupidity being infinite was true, I salute you.

6.) Dan, we lost contact when you matured - I am glad for you, I did not know you had it in you to become anything other than what you were, you have proven that a bit of determination and societal isolation can get you further than you thought.

7.) Emily, you taught me to hate and distrust - I am forever grateful

8.) Erica M. You taught me that a higher intellect is but a lesser form of stupidity.

9.) Sophie, there are no words, in any language, comprehensive or sincere enough to describe how sorry beyond measure I am for failing you, for not taking the right action. You have taught me that sometimes trust should be broken for the greater good.

10.) Glenn, my trusted friend, you have helped me to choose my own path, though our intellectual interests have diverged apart over the past five years, you have enlightened me with wisdom beyond my time and helped to guide me away from repeating the mistakes that would put me back on the path I was on when we met. I can't begin to imagine where you or I would be right now, had I not lied.

I apologize for the blog-esque drama above. The point I am trying to make, is that there are people in our life, ranging from the most important (our best friends, our family, our love) to extremely insignificant people (childhood 'friends', random people you see on the street, etc) that can define who you are... I have memories of people I should not have, people who played such a minor role in my life that I am amazed I remember them, yet I do.... Every memory we make of every experience we have, defines us in an immeasureable way... even the most harshest, negative of memories can shape us in positive ways... even our negative actions can do so...

As an artist, you attempt to create or recreate things based on your own artistic persona, what you perceive to be grand, inspiring, thought provoking etc.. But everybodys idea of that is different, why? Because we are shaped in different ways.... Remember - never forget anybody, no matter how insignificant, because understand where you come from will help you further understand where you are, and more importantly, where you are headed.

It's coming along... one nuclear blast site at a time.. You haven't missed much at the meetings, just people rambling on again about their never-ceasing distaste for social interaction, and lively debates about who has the largest and most impressive weapons of extinction.. the usual
